Burglars Steal Historic Horse Saddle, Apache Shirt and Corked Wine

Thieves who broke into a New Mexico home hauled away $35,000 worth of historic items and a few inconsequential bottles of wine. The culprits made off with Native American textiles and weapons from the 1800s including bows and arrows, a beaded shirt and blankets, but were a little less discerning about the wine cellar swipes. According to the Albuquerque Journal, they snagged, “six miscellaneous bottles valued at $20 each,” and 10 bottles of 1990 Chateauneuf-du-Pape from France’s Rhone Valley, which peaked years ago. Not all historic objects maintain shelf life like a good old fashioned Arapaho bow and arrow. [Albuquerque Journal]
