Rum Swizzle

Adapted from Trader Vic's Bartender's Guide, Revised

Synonymous with the Caribbean, the original Rum Swizzle, with its base of rum, lime juice and bitters, has spurred countless variations. Here, Trader Vic’s ode to the original.

Ingredients

Serving: 1

  • 2 ounces light rum
  • 2 ounces light rum
  • juice of 1 lime
  • juice of 1 lime
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 dashes bitters
  • 2 dashes bitters

Garnish: mint sprig

Directions
  1. Pour over 2 scoops shaved ice in a glass pitcher.
  2. Churn vigorously with a swizzle stick until the drink foams and pitcher frosts.
  3. Pour into chilled highball glass and garnish with a mint sprig.
