There are few, if any, four-star restaurants that can compete with Eleven Madison Park when it comes to the one-two-three punch of value, depth and service. This is a wine list that has all of the styling of a four-star list—i.e. all of the northern Rhône, Burgundy and Champagne you could ever want to drink—but goes off-piste when it comes to the wine markups, which are remarkably low for a restaurant of this caliber. Another surprise is the collection of German and Austrian wines, a section of the list that expanded significantly under former wine director Dustin Wilson (it’s now helmed by Cedric Nicaise). So, while there is value to be found in literally every corner of this list, if you’re looking for the best bang for your buck under $150, head straight for the Riesling. It’s also important to note that the restaurant excels in pretty much everything pertaining to alcoholic beverages, so if you’ve got the stamina, both the beer and cocktail lists are equally impressive.
