A longtime fixture on Flatbush Avenue in Prospect Heights since 2004 (they moved across the street and down the block in 2013), Franny’s continues to pack in the neighborhood stroller set with their much-buzzed-about pizzas and seasonal, locally sourced menu. Ease into the night ahead with a plate of salumi and one of the dozen-plus aperitivi on the rocks options or an amaro-laced cocktail. The list of Italian wine has always been one of the city’s most forward-thinking, embracing both the old-school classics and the sorts of lesser-known regional wines that are quietly redefining our notions of what regions like Sicily and Emilia-Romagna are capable of. Add to this a long list of post-dinner digestivi and you’ll be contemplating your return trip as soon as you walk out the door.

What to drink
Much of the list falls in the $50-60 range with very fair markups, so there's plenty to drink on a budget. But if you're willing to go deep, there are a few fantastic higher-end bottles, most of which they offer by both the bottle and half bottle. On the cocktail front, go for a house Negroni (Beefeater gin, Campari, Carpano, Punt e Mes) or a Settantacinque (Rittenhouse rye, Luxardo Bitter, Lemon, Lambrusco).
