Tip Your Bartender: Dead Rabbit, New York

May 06, 2020

Story: Punch Staff

art: Nick Hensley

In this home bartender-friendly take on the Dead Rabbit's Irish Coffee, a base of Irish whiskey is shaken with bitters, demerara syrup and cold-brew concentrate.

Tip Your Bartender is a social media initiative from PUNCH connecting our readers with bar teams across the country via Instagram. We’re asking select bartenders to share their drinks (albeit virtually) and encourage the PUNCH audience to “tip” during the economically uncertain times ahead.

Between March 30th and May 29th, for every dollar tipped to bar teams, the Bacardi family of brands has generously committed to matching it with an equal gift to our charitable partner, Restaurant Workers’ Community Foundation.

Irish Coffee Martini

Samantha Casuga, Dead Rabbit | New York

The Irish Coffee is a beloved mainstay of the Dead Rabbit’s extensive menu of historic classic cocktails. In this home bartender-friendly version served chilled, a base of Irish whiskey is shaken with bitters, demerara syrup and cold-brew concentrate for an improved take on the classic Espresso Martini.

1 dash aromatic bitters
½ ounce demerara syrup (2:1)
1 ½ ounces cold-brew concentrate
1 ½ ounces Teeling Small Batch

Garnish: lemon twist, expressed and discarded

Add ingredients to a shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously until tin is frosty. Double-strain into a chilled Martini or Nick & Nora glass. Garnish with the oils from an expressed and discarded lemon twist.

Order ingredients for this cocktail for delivery via Drizly.
