Tip Your Bartender: The Mad Priest, Chattanooga

Morgan Young makes the bar's spirit-forward tequila cocktail, Isle de Cristo.

Tip Your Bartender is a social media initiative from PUNCH connecting our readers with bar teams across the country via Instagram. We’re asking select bartenders to share their drinks (albeit virtually) and encourage the PUNCH audience to “tip” during the economically uncertain times ahead.

Between March 30th and May 29th, for every dollar tipped to bar teams, the Bacardi family of brands has generously committed to matching it with an equal gift to our charitable partner, Restaurant Workers’ Community Foundation.

Isle de Cristo

The Mad Priest | Chattanooga, Tennessee

The idea behind The Mad Priest’s spirit-forward cocktail was to create a template that transitions seamlessly into warm days. Built on a base of reposado tequila and lifted with a quartet of modifiers, the result is slightly saline, bitter and sweet.

1 ½ ounces Patrón reposado tequila
½ ounce Rothman & Winter peach liqueur
¼ ounce Licor 43
1 dropper of Bittermens ‘Elemakule Tiki Bitters
4 drops of saline (See Editors’ Note)

Add ingredients to mixing glass and stir for 30 seconds. Strain into a chilled coupe or over a large-cut rock in a small Old-Fashioned glass.

Editors’ Note
Saline
80 grams water
20 grams salt

Combine water and salt, and shake until dissolved.

Order ingredients for this cocktail for delivery via Drizly.
