Bacardi Limited is about to enter the American whiskey category reports Business Wire. The corporation recently acquired Louisville-based Angel’s Share Brands, Louisville Distilling Co. and its Angel’s Envy brand.
The acquisition was a strategic move with flagship brand, Angel’s Envy Port Finished bourbon, included in the top ten fastest growing super-premium bourbons in the United States. In the US, super-premium American straight whiskey has seen 10 percent market growth in the last five years alone. Hinting at its own investment potential, Angel’s Envy recently earned 98/100 points from Wine Enthusiast magazine, now holding the title for the magazine’s highest rated bourbon ever.
Angel’s Envy was created by Master Distiller Lincoln Henderson, a pioneer in American whiskey and a member of the Bourbon Hall of Fame, and is known for its subtly innovative twists including finishing in oddball casks and small batch blending. [Business Wire] [Photo: Flickr.com/vissago]
