Cambridge University Spends $5 Million on Wine in One Year

Cambridge University has really got its priorities straight. That is, if you ask whoever it is that has unlimited access to its wine cellar. According to The Telegraph, last year England’s ultimate august institution spent $5 million (U.S.) on wine, which amounts to the “equivalent of the tuition fees of 300 students,” or roughly $11,500 per day. King’s College, one of the 31 colleges under the umbrella of Cambridge University, spent the most, it’s expenditures totaling more than $560,000 in the 2012/2013 year. With just 402 undergraduates, that averages out to about $1,400 per student, which is a lot of money if you aren’t actually drinking the wine. [The Telegraph]
