Ladies and gentleman, we’re thrilled to announce the expansion of the PUNCH masthead. Robert Simonson will be joining PUNCH, effective immediately, as Contributing Editor, covering cocktails and cocktail culture. He will author a monthly review column titled “Bar Review,” offering a critical look at some of the world’s most notable bars. In addition to a monthly review, Simonson will also write a second monthly column that explores cocktail culture and trends.
Simonson is a longtime contributor to PUNCH whose work has appeared in GQ, Saveur, Lucky Peach, Whiskey Advocate, Imbibe and, most frequently, the New York Times, where he writes about cocktails, spirits, bars and bartenders. He is the author of The Old-Fashioned (2014), A Proper Drink (2016), the first-ever history of the cocktail renaissance, and Three-Ingredient Cocktails, which will be published by Ten Speed Press in the fall of 2017. A native of Wisconsin, he has lived in Brooklyn since 1988.
