Tequila-Flavored Beer Has Come to America

After being sold abroad for 15 years, Desperados, a tequila-flavored beer owned by Heineken, will soon distribute nationally in the U.S. Advertising Age reports. The company is, “trying to deliver on that high-energy, nightlife type of scene,” and is targeting urban youth. South Beach is the first splashy stop on the company’s American invasion as it taps into the higher alcohol (it’s at 6%) and flavored beer trend aimed at millenials. Though it’s popular in France where Mexican food is scare and cocktails have just begun to catch on, it remains to be seen if the malt beverage will gain traction here.
