(n.) A thin rod, usually made of plastic, glass or metal, used to mix the ingredients of a cocktail, either in the glass in which it is being served or in a mixing glass before it is strained. The drink may be served with or without the stirrer. In some cases, the stirrer performs a more decorative roll, and many bars place their logo on stirrers for branding purposes.
