Cooler

(n.) A catch-all category for a broad swath of drinks made by mixing a spirit or fortified wine with a carbonated beverage, served over ice and often garnished with a citrus peel. The drink is often named for the base spirit, such as the Campari Cooler or a Scotch Cooler, or a location where the variation originated, such as the Boston Cooler (rum, lemon and soda), or Narragansett Cooler (bourbon, orange juice and ginger ale).
