(n.) A small glass used to serve shots and shooters, usually made from glass with a thick base and sides. There is no standard for capacity, though it is most commonly available in the 1 ¼ to 1 ½ ounce size. On account of the variability, it is not generally recommended for measuring liquids for cocktail recipes.
