A reference to the classic recipe of spirit, bitters, sugar and water, Lasher-Walker believes his drink fulfills the “bare minimum” of requirements to qualify as an Old-Fashioned. He even skips the garnish, insisting that the nose actually benefits without one.

- 2 1/4 ounce Brugal 1888
- 3/4 ounce Aperol and Giffard Banane Du Brésil Liqueur Batch (See Editor’s Note)
- Combine ingredients in a rocks glass over a jumbo ice cube, stirring five or six times.
- Serve with no garnish.
To make the Aperol and Giffard Banane batch, combine equal parts of each ingredient, bottle and store.
