Based on the classic framework of a Negroni—equal parts strong, bitter and sweet—A16 Rockridge’s Blessed Thistle replaces sweet vermouth with CioCiaro and Cardamaro. CioCiaro’s earthiness pairs well with gin’s herbaceous backbone and Campari’s bittersweet tang, while Cardamaro provides a wine-like quality maintaining the aromatic and dry qualities of sweet vermouth. The name is a nod to blessed thistle, a plant believed to have medicinal properties often used in amaro production.
