Taking first place in our recent blind Sidecar tasting, Chip Tyndale‘s traditional recipe asked for two ounces of Remy Martini VSOP, ¾ ounce each of lemon juice and Cointreau, a teaspoon of 2:1 demerara syrup, and an orange twist. The cocktail delighted the panel immediately. “It leaves you with that taste in the back of throat that makes you want to go back for another sip,” said William Elliot.

Ingredients

Serving: 1

  • 2 ounces Remy Martin VSOP cognac
  • 2 ounces Remy Martin VSOP cognac
  • 3/4 ounce Cointreau
  • 3/4 ounce Cointreau
  • 3/4 ounce lemon
  • 3/4 ounce lemon
  • 1 teaspoon demerara syrup (2:1, demerara sugar:water)
  • 1 teaspoon demerara syrup (2:1, demerara sugar:water)

Garnish: orange twist

Directions
  1. Combine all ingredients in a mixing tin and shake with ice.
  2. Strain into a chilled coupe.
  3. Garnish with orange twist.
