Taking the classic template of the Manhattan, the bar team at The Freehand Hotel on Miami Beach substitutes rum for bourbon and sherry for sweet vermouth. They then add a bit of cold brew coffee and chocolate bitters for complexity creating a postprandial digestif with a kick—just in case you want to hit the club when you’re finished.

Ingredients

Serving: 1

  • 2 ounces aged rum, Atlantico Reserva
  • 2 ounces aged rum, Atlantico Reserva
  • 1 ounce sherry
  • 1 ounce sherry
  • 1/2 ounce cold brew coffee
  • 1/2 ounce cold brew coffee
  • 3 dashes chocolate bitters
  • 3 dashes chocolate bitters

Garnish: lemon peel

Directions
  1. Add all ingredients to a mixing glass.
  2. Add ice and stir until chilled.
  3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with a lemon peel.
