Westlight’s False Start is a stirred drink garnished with cucumber that balances reposado tequila with bitter, nutty Cardamaro, rosso vermouth and Cynar, for a drink that’s rich but surprisingly light on its feet.

Ingredients

Serving: 1

  • 1 1/4 ounces reposado tequila, preferably 7 Leguas
  • 1 1/4 ounces reposado tequila, preferably 7 Leguas
  • 1 ounce Cardamaro
  • 1 ounce Cardamaro
  • 3/4 ounce rosso vermouth, preferably Dolin
  • 3/4 ounce rosso vermouth, preferably Dolin
  • 1/4 ounce Cynar
  • 1/4 ounce Cynar
  • 2 cucumber slices
  • 2 cucumber slices

Garnish: cucumber slice

Directions
  1. Gently muddle cucumbers, stir all ingredients and fine strain into a coupe.
  2. Garnish with a cucumber wheel.
