The Flame of Love was created by bartender Pepe Ruiz in 1970 for Dean Martin at West Hollywood’s former celebrity hangout, Chasen’s. A variation of the Valencia Martini, Ruiz’s spin adds flamboyant flair by expressing orange oil through a match flame for a dramatic finish. We’ve adapted ours with bit more sherry and some orange bitters, but just as much showmanship.
