Ideal to satisfy a thirsty crowd at a holiday gathering, this quick, build-in-the-glass Old-Fashioned tweak substitutes the required sugar for Frangelico. “I try to think of it as a sweetener, more than a spirit,” says Amor y Amargo’s Sother Teague. Already cold weather-friendly, the Italian liqueur’s hazelnut flavor goes nicely with the cinnamon and cocoa notes found in Angostura and mole bitters, respectively.
- 1 1/2 ounces whiskey, brandy or aged rum
- 1/2 ounce Frangelico
- 1 dash Angostura bitters
- 1 dash mole bitters
Garnish: dried cranberry, orange twist
- Combine all ingredients in an Old-Fashioned glass over a large ice cube.
- Gently stir to integrate.
