It’s So Easy

Aaron Polsky, Mulberry Project | New York City

so easy cocktail recipe daniel krieger

Using winter clementines, Aaron Polsky of New York City’s Mulberry Project created this orange cobbler whose citrusy edges are rounded out with Bittermens Orange Cream Citrate, a throwback to the soda fountain counters of yore.

Serving: 1

  • 2 ounces gin (preferably Ford's Gin)
  • 3/4 ounce lemon juice
  • 3/4 ounce simple syrup, (1:1, sugar:water)
  • 6 segments clementine
  • 5 drops Bittermens Orange Cream Citrate

Garnish: clementine wheel

  1. In a cocktail shaker, muddle clementine segments with lemon juice and simple syrup.
  2. Add gin and Orange Cream Citrate.
  3. Add ice and shake until chilled.
  4. Dump into a rocks glass and top with crushed ice.
  5. Garnish with a clementine wheel.

Hello Punch, do you have a gin brand recommendation for this recipe? I ordered the Bittermens Citrate online and cannot wait to try the drink! I generally have Hendrick’s on hand but am wondering if it’s more “specialty” flavor might not suit this recipe as well. Thoughts? Thanks in advance! – Emily

Aaron uses Ford’s Gin (by the 86 Co.) in the original recipe. We’ve added that note just in case anyone else has the same question. Enjoy the Bittermens Citrate—its wonderful, chalky orange flavor goes well with anything that has egg white or muddled citrus.

Does Aaron have any other more widely known brand recommendations? I cannot get that particular brand in my state. Thanks! – Emily

          He suggests Tanqueray.
