Johann Goes to Mexico

This mezcal spin on the Trinidad Sour calls for a full half-ounce of Angostura bitters. A cocktail-geek special if there ever was one, it’s dense and grainy, the smoke of the mezcal sneaking through cracks in the formidable wall of Angostura spice.


Serving: 1

  • 1 1/2 ounces mezcal, preferably Vida
  • 1/2 ounce lemon juice
  • 1/2 ounce Angostura bitters
  • 1/2 ounce demerara syrup

  1. Combine all ingredients in a mixing tin and shake with ice.
  2. Double strain into a chilled coupe or cocktail glass.
