“I love the elegance of an equal-parts Alexander,” explains John deBary. His edit simply calls for swapping out the cream for milk, which provides the requisite creaminess without the added weight.


Serving: 1

  • 1 ounce Cognac, preferably VS or VSOP
  • 1 ounce crème de cacao , preferably Marie Brizard or Tempus Fugit
  • 1 ounce whole milk

Garnish: grated nutmeg

  1. Combine all ingredients in a mixing tin and shake with ice.
  2. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
  3. Garnish with grated nutmeg.
