Royal Afternoon

Sother Teague, Amor y Amargo and Coup | New York

Sother Teague describes his Aperol Spritz variation as “a sunny spritz filled with bright citrus notes and a hint of sweetness, perfect for sipping on the porch on a summer day.

Showcasing the Italian bitter liqueur alongside orange citrate and sparkling rosé, this is a take on the iconic drink that is light, compared to the strong-and-stirred template for which Amor y Amargo is typically known, but still complex.

Serving: 1

  • 1 1/2 ounces Aperol
  • 3/4 ounce Amaro Montenegro
  • 2 dashes orange citrate, preferably Bittermens
  • sparkling rosé, to top

Garnish: long orange twist

  1. Pour first three ingredients into a Collins glass and fill with ice.
  2. Top with rosé.
  3. Express the oils from a long orange twist over the drink and place decoratively into the glass.
