A growing number of craft producers in recent years has encouraged the wide use of eau de vies in both classic and contemporary cocktails. In Strange Encounters, carrot eau de vie complements a base of amontillado sherry and adds a layer of freshness to the ginger and honey syrups.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 ounces amontillado sherry, preferably Lustau Los Arcos amontillado
  • 1 1/2 ounces amontillado sherry, preferably Lustau Los Arcos amontillado
  • 1/2 ounce aquavit, preferably Linie
  • 1/2 ounce aquavit, preferably Linie
  • 1/2 ounce carrot eau de vie, preferably Reisetbauer
  • 1/2 ounce carrot eau de vie, preferably Reisetbauer
  • 1 ounce lemon juice
  • 1 ounce lemon juice
  • 1/4 ounce orgeat
  • 1/4 ounce orgeat
  • 1/4 ounce honey syrup (2:1, acacia honey:water)
  • 1/4 ounce honey syrup (2:1, acacia honey:water)
  • 1/4 ounce ginger syrup (2:1, sugar: ginger juice, blended)
  • 1/4 ounce ginger syrup (2:1, sugar: ginger juice, blended)
  • 1 dash Bitter Truth Aromatic Bitters
  • 1 dash Bitter Truth Aromatic Bitters

Directions
  1. Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake with ice.
  2. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
