Sweet Mezcal Martini

Author Robert Simonson developed this “proto” Martini for his book Mezcal & Tequila Cocktails. Closer to a Martinez, the Martini’s supposed predecessor, the two ounces of blanc vermouth temper the powerful profile of the mezcal.

Ingredients

Serving: 1

  • 2 ounces blanc vermouth, preferably Dolin
  • 2 ounces blanc vermouth, preferably Dolin
  • 1 ounce mezcal
  • 1 ounce mezcal
  • 2 dashes orange bitters
  • 2 dashes orange bitters

Garnish: cherry

Directions
  1. Combine the ingredients in a mixing glass filled with ice.
  2. Stir until chilled.
  3. Strain into a chilled coupe and garnish with a cherry.
