This cold weather-appropriate adaptation of the Old-Fashioned lays down a spicy baseline to fend off the winter blues thanks to a trio of ginger syrup, allspice tincture and the tiki liqueur, Velvet Falernum.


Serving: 1

  • 2 ounces Irish whiskey
  • 1/2 ounce falernum, preferably Velvet Falernum
  • 1/4 ounce ginger syrup
  • 1 dash allspice tincture
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters

Garnish: Orange peel

  1. Build the drink in a tumbler over ice.
  2. Garnish with an orange peel.
