“When I came up with the Whiskey Smash variation [in the late 1980s], I didn’t just shake the fruit in the drink—I muddled it with mint,” explains Dale DeGroff of this summer-ized rendition of the nontraditional drink, which incorporates fresh peaches and citrus.

Ingredients
Serving: 1
- 2 ounces bourbon
- 1 ounce Curaçao
- 2 peach slices
- 3 lemon wedges
- 4 or 5 mint leaves
Garnish: peach slice, mint sprig
Directions
- Muddle the fruit and lemon wedges with the Curaçao.
- Add the mint leaves and the bourbon.
- Shake well and strain into a double rocks glass filled with ice.
- Garnish with a peach slice and a mint sprig.
