With its exposed brick and dark wood interior, its small front patio and its even smaller beer garden area in the back, Brauhaus Südstern looks like an ordinary bar-restaurant. However it’s one of the few bar-restaurants in Berlin that brews its own beer on site. The selection of beers is limited to an unfiltered pale lager, a dark beer and a hefeweizen—sometimes supplemented by a seasonal brew—but none of them had to travel very far to get to your glass, and it shows.
