The cheap-and-chic, finger-lickin’-good sister restaurant to Longman & Eagle, Parson’s was an instant classic from the minute it opened in the summer of 2013. Situated on a high-traffic corner of Humboldt Park with a 1977 El Camino parked permanently in the lot, the building itself is tiny, seating less than 30. But the patio is like an adult play lot complete with gravel grounds and table tennis, where hours can be whiled away simply people watching over round after round of Negroni Slushies and Stiegl Radlers. Check out the quixotic outdoor bar made from a trio of shipping containers (it folds into itself come wintertime), or just groove out to the soundtrack of CCR and Skynard. As its regulars will tell you, Parson’s is a chooglin’ good time (look it up).

Any number of boozy slushies, particularly good Margaritas, Micheladas or, if it's that kind of afternoon, triple-backs: three shots lined up to be taken quickly (e.g., a shot of tequila, a shot of puréed mint and lime and a shot of pickled pimento).

ProTip
Parson’s was so popular when it opened, waits often reached hours—to a point where the weak just gave up and went home. More than a year in, crowds have thinned so that traditional dining hours aren’t nearly as crowded as they once were.
