Weird as it sounds, the bar-saturated Mission has almost no gay bars. And there are almost no lesbian bars anywhere in San Francisco. Yet here stands the Lexington Club in the dead center of the Mission, a dog-friendly corner bar with a jukebox for all tastes (from Stevie Nicks to the xx) where butches and femmes, bois and riot grrrls can inebriate together. Cheap drinks and good music abound, and there is never, ever a cover at the Lex.

What to drink
Everything about the Lexington says “dive,” but the everything-under-$10 cocktail list is superlative. Saturday brings $5 Sweet Tea pints, and Sundays are for group partying, with $5 pitchers of Micheladas and Bloody Marys.

ProTip
The Lex is a welcoming place, but as there are so few places for lesbians to congregate, anyone who isn’t a woman-loving woman or queer as hell needs to be extra respectful in here.
