When a winding walk through DUMBO, Brooklyn’s old waterfront warehouse neighborhood, deposits you at the door of a rustic, romantic charmer like Vinegar Hill House, you know you’re in good hands. Regulars keep coming back for the signature Red Wattle pork chop and the line-up of seasonal cocktails spiked with aromatic ingredients like hopped grapefruit bitters, rosemary-allspice and shiso furikake. On the wine front, Vinegar Hill House’s wine director Bill Fitch has been introducing Brooklyn to some of the wine world’s undersung heroes for years. With a focus on natural wine from all over the world—with a particular focus on France—the list is home to more quality and diversity for under $50 than maybe anywhere else in the borough.

What to drink
Honestly, it's all good. But Fitch has a particular nose for regional Italian wines, as well as Loire and south in France. If you're in the mood for cocktails, try the Purple & Gold (gin, honey, grapefruit, lemon, shiso furikake) or the Vinegar Hill (rye, vermouth, Dolin Genepy, hopped grapefruit bitters)

ProTip
If Fitch is in the house (he travels between New York and Paris often) definitely let him take you on a ride through his list.
