1886 Bar

The old caretaker cottage at Pasadena’s historic Raymond Hotel (first opened in 1886) is located at the end of a shrub-lined pathway and surrounded by overhanging trees. Hidden within is 1886 Bar—a rather snug room covered with Victorian wallpaper and cushy chairs—head bartender Brady Weiss creates elegant, inventive cocktails without a hint of pretension. The drinks often venture into the realm of the cheeky and interactive. The Blue Sky, for example, is a frothy mezcal and watermelon cocktail served on a mirror covered in crushed rock candy, in not-so-subtle homage to Breaking Bad.
