Learn more and sign up for Cosmos for a Cause—a charitable program by Cointreau that encourages consumers to raise a cocktail in support of the bar and restaurant community.
The version of the Cosmo we all know today was created by Toby Cecchini at The Odeon in 1988, at two-parts lemon vodka to one part each Cointreau, fresh lime juice and cranberry cocktail juice.
Flashy history aside, the Cosmo is a balanced, refreshing and pretty drink that’s easy to make at home. Cecchini says, above all: “Follow. The. Spec. It’s so easy. Even if you don’t use a chilled glass or you have terrible old ice chipped out of the walls of your freezer. Follow the spec.” And be sure to use fresh lime juice; it should be tart.
