Karri Kiyuna, Wildhawk | San Francisco

“A vermouth cocktail is great in the afternoon, as an aperitif or whenever really,” says Wildhawk’s Karri Kiyuna, who likes to serve this drink as an introduction to the ambrato style of vermouth.

The drink is named after Kiyuna’s grandmother. “She liked to do things her way, and though she was not a big alcohol drinker, I think she would have enjoyed the bright flavors in this low-ABV, floral cocktail.”

Serving: 1

  • 2 ounces Martini & Rossi Ambrato Vermouth
  • 1/2 ounce aquavit, preferably Linie
  • 1/2 ounce Luxardo Bitter Bianco
  • 1 dash peppercorn tincture (see Editor's Note)

Garnish: lemon twist

  1. Add all ingredients to a mixing glass and stir until chilled.
  2. Strain into a chilled coupe glass.
Editor's Note

Peppercorn Tincture
¼ cup whole back peppercorns
