Chris McMillian Mint Julep Cocktail Recipe

“The beauty of the Mint Julep is its simplicity,” says longtime New Orleans bartender Chris McMillian. “It’s about making each element the best that you can, and understanding that your idea of the best may change over time.” McMillian has been perfecting his recipe for over two decades and he’s famous for serving his take on the iconic cocktail with a side of performance art, reciting by memory an ode to the drink penned in the 1890s by J. Soule Smith.

At Revel, McMillian keeps 18 silver-plated julep tins of various sizes on-hand and adjusts the amount of bourbon and simple syrup accordingly.
