Margarita Soda

The key to the Margarita Soda is simplicity. The ingenious highball mashup from Ridgewood’s Hellbender Nighttime Café starts with a base of a Tommy’s Margarita, topped with club soda, which opens up the earthy tequila notes and the sharp lime, offering balanced, layered complexity.

Ingredients

Serving: 1

  • 1 1/2 ounces tequila, preferably Pueblo Viejo Blanco
  • 1 1/2 ounces tequila, preferably Pueblo Viejo Blanco
  • 3/4 ounce agave syrup
  • 3/4 ounce agave syrup
  • 3/4 ounce lime juice
  • 3/4 ounce lime juice
  • club soda
  • club soda

Garnish: sea salt, lime wedge

Directions
  1. Rim a Collins glass with sea salt.
  2. Add the first three ingredients to a shaker with ice and shake until chilled.
  3. Pour into the prepared Collins glass, top with club soda and stir.
  4. Garnish with a lime wedge.
