In his deep-hued, full-bodied spin on the Manhattan, Sother Teague lengthens 100-proof rye whiskey with aromatic Ramazzotti and bitter Punt e Mes.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 ounce 100-proof rye whiskey
  • 1 1/2 ounce 100-proof rye whiskey
  • 3/4 ounce Punt e Mes
  • 3/4 ounce Punt e Mes
  • 3/4 ounce Ramazzotti
  • 3/4 ounce Ramazzotti
  • 7 dashes Angostura bitters
  • 7 dashes Angostura bitters

Garnish: expressed lemon peel

Directions
  1. Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass and stir with ice to chill and dilute.
  2. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
  3. Express a lemon peel over the drink, then discard.
