A Sazerac Recipe for Cheap Dates

As usual, the Bitter Southerner is making drinking look good. We’ve got cocktail envy for their BS No. 3 by Atlanta bartender Paul Calvert of Paper Plane. A play on the Sazerac—of which BS says, “Drink two of them, and you might as well bend over and kiss your ass goodbye”—the No. 3 is a lower proof version for cheap dates using only an ounce of rye whiskey alongside a healthy dose of Cynar, Gran Classico, Carpano Antica and a rinse of Herbsaint—for authenticity. Calvert considers his devotion to whiskey cocktails a plea to the southern whiskey producers to market their wares to their home region before first “[following] the money…to New York and California.” [Bitter Southerner]
