At Boston’s The Hawthorne, divisive (and oft-forgotten) spirit Crème de Violette is sometimes used in small doses to “accent other flavors and contribute additional complexity to our drinks,” says bar manager Jared Sadoian. In this cocktail—inspired by the courageous women of the Mexican Revolution forever canonized in the folk ballad, “La Adelita”—the violet liqueur adds a note of soft florality to the strong combination of reposado and bittersweet Cocchi Americano.
