At Manhattan’s Dear Irving, Tom Richter plays off the fruity flavors of sloe and genever with added citrus and curaçao in his Running of the Bulls. “I think we will all see many more drinks popping up using sloe gin,” Richter says, as the spirit “is just itching to start being used as a more common modifier.”


Serving: 1

  • 1 ounce sloe gin
  • 1 ounce genever
  • 1/2 ounce yellow Chartreuse
  • 1/4 ounce dry Curaçao
  • 1/2 ounce lemon juice

Garnish: Lemon wheel

  1. Add all ingredients to a shaker, and add ice.
  2. Shake until chilled and strain into a coupe.
  3. Garnish with a lemon wheel.
