Bar Muse’s Last Word

Like many bars across the country, Oxford, Mississippi’s Bar Muse has been impacted by the Chartreuse shortage. According to owner Joseph Stinchcomb, it can be difficult to “capture the depth of flavor that Chartreuse has,” but the bar, which typically has at least one Chartreuse cocktail on each of its revolving menus, has made some pivots. This riff on the Last Word, for example, swaps the usual liqueur for Bénédictine.

Ingredients
  • 1 ounce Bénédictine
  • 1 ounce Bénédictine
  • 1/2 ounce maraschino liqueur, preferably Luxardo
  • 1/2 ounce maraschino liqueur, preferably Luxardo
  • 3/4 ounce lime juice
  • 3/4 ounce lime juice
  • 3/4 ounce gin
  • 3/4 ounce gin

Directions
  1. Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker.
  2. Add ice and shake until chilled.
  3. Strain into a chilled coupe or cocktail glass.
