El Amargo

Javier Sosa, Ocho7Ocho Bar | Buenos Aires, Argentina

buenos aires aperitivo cocktail

Ask the city’s bartenders and serious drinkers for their favorite watering hole, and they will most likely tell you “El Ocho.” “It’s the first bar to modernize the aperitivo, and it’s also the most democratic bar in the city,” explains Buenos Aires bartender Guillermo Blumenkamp. “People of all walks of life feel comfortable here, especially with Javier [Sosa] behind the bar.” El Amargo, a riff on the Old-Fashioned, is head bartender Javier Sosa’s signature drink, and also happens to be his nickname, The Bitter One.
