Greenhorn

Bobby Heugel | Houston

At Refuge in Houston, Bobby Heugel wanted to create a stirred drink that highlights Midori and could be easily replicated by others. With a base of blanco tequila (El Tesoro in this case), the Greenhorn balances the melon liqueur’s sweetness with the bitter gentian flavor of Suze. The resulting drink—which tastes “like a fun dropout Negroni of sorts,” he says—is finished with an equally verdant neon green maraschino cherry.
