In addition to the expected anise, 76-proof Sambuca Oro Borghetti also offers peppercorn aromas. The liqueur jibes well with the bitter, the sweet and the bittersweet, exemplified here in Maxim Gerasimenko’s recipe, where it joins Aperol, simple syrup and fresh grapefruit juice.

Ingredients

Serving: 1

  • 1 1/2 ounces sambuca, preferably Sambuca Oro Borghetti
  • 1 1/2 ounces sambuca, preferably Sambuca Oro Borghetti
  • 1/2 ounce Aperol
  • 1/2 ounce Aperol
  • 2 1/2 ounces grapefruit juice
  • 2 1/2 ounces grapefruit juice
  • 1/4 ounce rich simple syrup (2:1, sugar:water)
  • 1/4 ounce rich simple syrup (2:1, sugar:water)

Directions
  1. Combine all ingredients in a mixing tin and shake with ice.
  2. Strain into a chilled coupe or cocktail glass.
