Built on a whiskey base and topped with ginger beer and a squeeze of lemon, the Horsefeather reads like southern take on the Moscow Mule. “I just assumed it was a classic cocktail,” says Ryan Maybee of this Kansas City staple, “but…I started to realize that nobody outside of the Kansas City area knew what I was talking about when I would ask for a Horsefeather.” Refreshing, approachable and native to his hometown, the Horsefeather has become a mainstay of Maybee’s repertoire.


Serving: 1

  • 1 1/2 ounces whiskey, preferably Rieger’s Kansas City Whiskey
  • 4 ounces ginger beer
  • 4 to 5 dashes Angostura bitters
  • 1 squeeze of lemon
